ADMISSIONS

Kingsfold is a Community School serving the community of Kingsfold and Penwortham and as such the Local Education Authority (LEA) is the Admission Authority.

If your child is due to start school in September you MUST apply on Lancashire’s online system at www.lancashire.gov.uk/school. If you do not have access to a computer and you cannot apply online, please call into the school office for a paper application.

SCHOOL ADMISSIONS

This is a community school. Please see the full admission details on Lancashire County Council website - admissions criteria for community and voluntary controlled primary schools.

To apply for a place at this school, please apply online.

  1. Looked after children or a child who was previously looked after, but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangement order, or special guardianship order or those children who appear to the school to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted, then
  2. Children for whom the Local Authority accepts that there are exceptional medical social or welfare reasons which are directly relevant to the school concerned below, then
  3. Children eligible for Services Premium, then
  4. Children with older brothers and sisters attending the school when the younger child will start, then
  5. Remaining places are allocated according to where a child lives. Those living nearest to the preferred school by a straight line (radial) measure will have priority, below.

The distance criterion will be used as the tie breaker if there is oversubscription within any of the admission criteria; it is a straight line (radial) measure.

If the Local Authority is unable to distinguish between applicants using the published criteria (eg. Siblings, those living the same distance from home to school, or families residing in the same block of flats) places will be offered via a random draw.

The distance measure is a straight line measurement (radial) between the applicant’s home address points and the address point of the school (co-ordinates provided by ordnance survey data).

APPEALS

If you're not happy with the school place you're given, you can appeal for any school.

If you have been refused a place at a community or voluntary controlled school, your appeal will go to the county council. A copy of your form will be sent to the relevant area education office who are the admissions authority for the school you're appealing for. A copy will also be sent to the email address you have included on your form for your own records.

IN YEAR ADMISSIONS

Since 1 November 2021, the Area Pupil Access has been responsible for co-ordinating all in year admissions, irrespective of the year group.

Please note that waiting lists can no longer be kept by individual schools. If school currently has a reserve list, it is important that you inform parents of this change, explaining that they must maintain contact with the Area Education Office if they wish to express an interest in a place at your school.
