Oracy

At Kingsfold, we believe that spoken language is a vital part of learning and personal development. We provide a language-rich environment where pupils develop confidence, vocabulary and communication skills through purposeful talk across the curriculum.

Our oracy provision helps children to:

• speak clearly and confidently
• listen respectfully to others
• explain ideas, reasons and opinions
• build on the ideas of others
• use ambitious vocabulary
• take part in discussions, debates, presentations and performances

We use a range of structured talk activities and adapt support so that all pupils, including those with SEND and EAL, can participate fully. Oracy is developed progressively from EYFS to Year 6, helping pupils become articulate, thoughtful and respectful communicators.
