Safeguarding in the Curriculum

At Kingsfold Primary School, safeguarding is an integral part of our curriculum and wider school provision. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils feel safe, are supported appropriately and know how to seek help if they have concerns.

Safeguarding education is delivered through a combination of planned curriculum content and responsive, contextual provision, in line with statutory guidance.

PSHE and Computing
• The SCARF PSHE curriculum supports pupils to learn about personal safety, healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing, body safety, consent and how to seek help. Learning is age‑appropriate and progressive from EYFS to Year 6.
• Online safety is taught through the Jam Coding Computing curriculum, ensuring pupils understand how to use technology safely and responsibly. This includes managing personal information, recognising risks, understanding online behaviour and knowing how to report concerns.

Digital Leaders
Digital Leaders are a group of pupils who support the promotion of safe and responsible use of technology across the school. With adult guidance, they contribute to assemblies and help share key messages about current online safety issues, including emerging apps, games and digital behaviours.

Anti‑Bullying Ambassadors
Anti‑Bullying Ambassadors play an active role in promoting positive behaviour and respectful relationships. With staff support, they:
• Contribute to assemblies focused on bullying, friendship and inclusion
• Help raise awareness of different forms of bullying, including online bullying
• Feed back pupil voice and current issues to staff to help inform safeguarding and pastoral provision
This supports a proactive and pupil‑informed approach to bullying prevention.

Assemblies and Contextual Safeguarding
Safeguarding themes are reinforced through regular assemblies, which respond to current and emerging safeguarding concerns at both a local and national level.
Additional safeguarding support is provided through:
• Nurture provision
• Small‑group or targeted safeguarding sessions
• Additional lessons where specific needs or concerns are identified
Our Pupil Support Worker uses contextual information and current safeguarding concerns to inform this provision and to provide timely, appropriate support for pupils.

Impact
Through this approach, pupils are supported to:
• Understand how to keep themselves safe
• Recognise when something is not right
• Know who to talk to and how to seek help
• Stay safe both online and offline
